1. Select a hosting plan at http://www.joltdigital.com/host_main.asp and signup for it. Your current hosting will not be affected by merely signing up for hosting.
2. Upload your site to our servers through either FTP or FrontPage.
3. Create and upload any databases that may be associated with your site. Please contact us on the exact procedure for the type of database you are running.
4. Test your site by using the instant alias if on a shared IP or the IP address if on a dedicated IP.
5. Create all your mailboxes through the control panel's mail manager.
6. This step is only needed if you are running a live database on your site. While the domain's DNS moves you will receive hits to your site at both your old host and JoltDigital. To make sure you do not end up with the database at your old host and the database at JoltDigital not being the same you will want to do one of the following: a. Change the connection string to your database in the site at JoltDigital to point to your old database server. Once the domain's DNS has completely moved and you are no longer receiving hits to your site at the old host upload a copy of your db to our servers and change your connection string to point to our servers. b. Upload your database to our servers and change the connection string at the old host to point to JoltDigital's database servers.
7. Change the name servers at your registrar to point to the name servers listed in your hosting control panel under domain properties. The will be listed as something such as ns2.joltdigital.com -> 69.46.17.107 ns1.joltdigital.com -> 69.46.1.16 It will take approximately 24-72 hours for the name server change to fully propagate through the internet. Once this is done your domain will be completely live on JoltDigital's webservers.
